A famous porn star opened up about her strict upbringing where she was banned from talking to anyone outside church or from listening to non Christian music.

Jenna Starr will celebrate her two year anniversary in the adult industry next month – and already, her films have amassed millions of views.

She was also nominated for ‘Hottest Newcomer’ at the AVN Awards 2023 and has been published in Playboy magazine.

But her current life was once unimaginable after a sheltered upbringing made her ashamed of enjoying sex as she got older.

Speaking exclusively with Daily Star about her past, she said: “When I was a kid nobody talked about college and things like that because they thought it would take you away from the Ministry of God.

“I was to be a good old wife who would have kids and would not have sex until I was married and I will meet a man of my dreams who God sent to me.

“I will be at home and will be the most perfect wife you can be and will serve my husband and everything will be about pleasing him.

“Sometimes you meet someone from church now and it’s like ‘oh my god no way, you went through that crazy cult stuff too’.”

Jenna, 33, was raised in California and obediently attended Sunday school.

She used to be “beat” for innocuous things and was ordered to live up to the highest physical and spiritual standards.

This led to her having a difficult relationship with sex – as shame and guilt would get in the way of pleasure.

She said: “A lot of those guilty feelings are now gone but it never really goes away.

“I am way more open sexually and can enjoy sexual experiences now. But in the past I would have sex with a guy and I would feel an enormous amount of guilt and there were times where I would cry with guilt for going out, meeting a guy and enjoying sex.

“I hated that I felt that way and I knew it wasn’t normal because I would see other people and they didn’t act that way.”

Asked what contributed to these emotions, she recalled one incident when she was younger.

It was a time when being gay or bisexual was frowned upon by the people she knew.

She is now proud to be a bisexual woman

She remembered: “I was horribly embarrassed one time, there was me and a girl who played around from time to time.

“We were growing up together and we got caught kissing and she blamed it on me. I remember very clearly we were in a chicken coup and she was like ‘kiss me’ and one of her siblings popped up and she was like ‘that was Jenna’ and I got into trouble for it.

“Those kinds of things were bad and you felt like there was something wrong with you.”

Jenna felt "traumatised" by her early experiences.

She added: “After growing up I had to learn everything about what life was really like which was actually quite traumatising.

“My perception of women was they were these pure holy beings and very monogamous and non sexual.

“I never saw my mum flirt or date and I didn’t see any other women in the Church do that either. When I got out it was all a huge rude awakening because I didn’t really know the reality of how people were.”

Eventually Jenna paved her own way and went to college after realising some of the “worst” people she had ever met were from her congregation.

She then moved to Texas and started her own cosmetology business – making six figures in her first ten months.

Growth expanded for the next five years until Covid wiped out her company.

All her savings then went on bills and she turned to OnlyFans full time to get by.

Her family respect how far she has come

She said it was a difficult decision because of her background, but added: “None of these people with opinions was going to pay my bills.

“Nobody asked me during Covid if I was ok when I started my business from scratch like a nice old holy woman.

“I had to wake up and realise one day that I either want to do what I want to do or I am going to keep worrying about being that woman that everyone wants me to be.”

Jenna said becoming a racy model was the second best decision she ever made, with the first being to move out of California.

In January 2022 a big porn company, Brazzers, approached her about working on a film and her third scene amassed more than one million views.

Since then she has been a cover girl for FHM and featured as a Playmate for Playboy.

And her success has now earned her the respect of her loved ones.

Jenna, who is now based in Las Vegas, said: “I am the most financially stable and secure person in my family so no one can really say anything.

“I’ve gained the respect from my family members because they’ve seen me as this business trailblazing woman and I made all my plans come true.

“My younger self would be shocked about where I am now but also very proud.”
