A Scouse mum who quit her office job to work in porn has revealed that she was inspired to make the career change after watching an explicit DVD.
Tanya Tate is one of the UK’s most famous adult stars, having chased her goal of working in porn by moving to the US.
With over 470,000 followers on Twitter, the adult star also hosts a podcast, where she chats to fellow adult models about how to succeed in the industry.
But, before her saucy job role, Tanya grew up in Liverpool and worked a typical 9-5 job.
So how did she get into the adult industry? In a recent interview, Tanya opened up about how the unusual switch came about.
“I was working in an office, I’d finished a relationship, and I was looking for something more exciting in my life,” she told porn producer Holly Randall on her Unfiltered podcast.
“I was sitting there with a male friend, and we put on a DVD in his house, and he was like, ‘wow, look at this’, it was an adult X-rated DVD.
“He was watching it getting excited, and I was watching it thinking, ‘I could do that’. It was literally that kind of moment.”
So, deciding to take the plunge, Tanya recalled how she began conducting market research on the relatively small adult industry in the UK.
“Some of that research involved going into an adult store and getting the DVDs and writing down from the back of the DVDs the name of the studio, the name of the website, and reaching out and trying to contact them,” she explained.
Eventually, Tanya filmed her first scene in 2008, and by 2010 the performer had become so successful that she decided to move to the home of the world’s largest porn production companies, Los Angeles.
“Moving across and then shooting for some of the big production companies you really saw the difference in the sets. Big mansions, the budgets were a lot bigger, there seemed to be a lot more people, it seemed to be more glamorous,” she said.
Tanya is now a mother to a young child, and her longevity in the industry has seen her receive numerous industry awards including for ‘best MILF’.
“It’s been at least a decade since I started shooting and there’s just so many scenes that I’ve done and so many movies that stand out,” she emphasised.
But, The adult star was able to pick out her favourite work so far as ‘Tanya’s Sex Tour of Ireland’.
The raucous trip that saw her taking a campervan around Ireland to find men to shoot with.
“It was literally going round and meeting these lads, inviting the lads in and going, ‘come on lads, come and make the caravan rock’. The Irish are a lot of fun,” she added.
