A British woman has revealed her Catholic parents refused to attend her university graduation - after discovering she did porn days before the ceremony.
Scarlett Jones spent three years working for her degree but was left to collect her hard-earned certificate without her family looking on.
That’s because her strictly religious parents had just learned she had been making money as a sex worker while studying at The University of Sheffield.
They reacted by cutting contact with their daughter and were absent at her graduation.
The 25-year-old told the Daily Star: “My parents were really shocked when they found out and they did not react well.
“They didn’t come and they didn’t speak to me for over half a year. They literally blocked me out of their lives which is insane."
Scarlett claimed: “They then found out how much money I was making and suddenly they were interested again...
“It’s not very nice but that’s what happened. People are strange sometimes but I guess I still have my law degree.
“And I don’t have any regrets in terms of career choice at all.”
Up until the age of 17, Scarlett attended church every weekend with her parents.
Reflecting on her faith, she said: “I was deeply religious and was fully of the belief I would wait for marriage before I had sex.”
She then studied philosophy for A-Levels before she began working in a strip club at uni after being inspired by a coursemate to consider adult work.
That then led to OnlyFans and shooting porn movies - even though she only had two sexual partners beforehand.
She said: “Perhaps because I had very strict parents it was a way of rebellion at first but also I genuinely did enjoy it, especially working at the strip club, it was such a laugh and a fun environment to be in.”
Because she was making so much money from sex work, Scarlett became a full-time adult entertainer after bagging her law degree.
"To be honest my parents chose I should do law, they wanted something respectable and proper," she said.
"I was also interested in it and thought it was a good career choice but deep down I knew it wasn't for me."
And she said picking porn over law was still a taboo topic with her family.
Scarlett - who also worked at Babestation - explained: “It’s not something we really talk about. It’s one of those things where you pretend it’s not happening but it does feel like a double standard.
“People are more than happy to accept generosity from me but obviously they don’t want to know where their money has come from.”
Despite her family not approving of her work - Scarlett said it has given her a life she could once only dream of.
She said: “A massive benefit is travelling the world and the freedom that money has allowed me.
“Before sex work I would never have been able to just spend five days with my grandad and take him out and go to restaurants without worrying.
“Being able to provide for people is so important to me and knowing I can support my family is amazing.”
Scarlett - who bought her first home aged 21 - is now eyeing up her second property and is also planning to take her grandad on holiday this year.
