In Loving Memory of Augusta Moore

In Loving Memory of Augusta Moore

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Augusta Moore, ODC’s Ballet Program Director, and much-loved member of our community.

Augusta joined ODC School as our Ballet Program Director in 2005 having previously danced a large and varied repertoire with the San Francisco Ballet, the Pennsylvania Ballet and the Chicago City Ballet. She was instrumental in building and shaping the ballet program at ODC into the esteemed, welcoming program it is today. She believed passionately in the joy of dance, and shared that in the studios, on stage, and beyond.

She cared deeply about her students, creating many unconventional ways of unlocking potential and finding a personal process of discovery.  She was a true innovator in her somatic approach to movement.  Her unique analogies and inimitable teaching style made a lasting impression on thousands of students of all ages at ODC and beyond. We will so miss her flair, her curiosity, her irreverence, and fierce love for dance.

Augusta approached her fight with cancer much like everything in her life; with grace, dignity and humor. She passed away late on Thursday, October 24 in her sleep, the day after World Ballet Day.
