- Many free events others vary per artist and event.

The Earl Scruggs Center combines the life story of legendary five-string banjo master and Cleveland County native, Earl Scruggs, with the unique and engaging story of the history and cultural traditions of the region in which Mr. Scruggs was born and raised. Engaging exhibits, special event space and rich programming provide a uniquely rich experience for visitors all year long.

September 18 – Cherokee Stories and Culture with Freeman Owle. (Free to all) Join us for a storytelling program featuring Freeman Owle, who will engage adults and children with a mix of history, culture, and ancient Cherokee stories passed down from generation to generation. Owle, a professional storyteller, artist, and educator, has shared Cherokee history and culture throughout the Southeast for more than twenty years. An elder in the Cherokee tribe, Owle also serves on the Board of Directors of the Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual. He is one of the featured storytellers in the book Living Stories of the Cherokee, and he also appears in the video documentary The Principal People, which aired on public television in North Carolina, South Carolina and Kentucky.
